Corrections Corporation of America in Hall County, Georgia

The company now represents the nation’s fifth-largest corrections system, behind the federal government and three states, and operates 66 facilities, including 42 that are company-owned, with a total design capacity of approximately 81,000 beds in 19 states and the District of Columbia.

North Georgia Detention Center

Corrections Corporation of America, the nation’s largest provider of corrections management services to state, federal and local government, will manage detainee populations for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (“ICE”) at the North Georgia Detention Center in Hall County, Georgia with a total design capacity of 502 beds.

Under a five-year Inter-Governmental Service Agreement between Hall County, Georgia and ICE, CCA will house up to 500 ICE detainees at the facility. The Company will lease the former Hall County Jail from Hall County, Georgia. The lease has an initial term of 20 years with two five-year renewal options and provides CCA the ability to cancel the lease if it does not have a management contract. The Company currently anticipates opening the facility during the second quarter of 2009 and expects the facility to be substantially occupied by the end of 2009.

Bringing Economic Stimulus to North Georgia

The vast majority of jobs will come from the local workforce. For the percentage of CCA professionals who are moving into the Gainesville area, they will be seeking housing, which also stimulates the local economy.

Annual payrolls of approximately $7.5 million.
These dollars will turn over in the local communities several times, generating more economic value to local businesses and government services.

Annual utilities of $350,000.
An annual lease payment to the county of $2 million for the correctional facility, which the county owns. These dollars going directly to the government can help offset important taxpayer needs, such as schools, health care and road infrastructure and may possible help avoid or reduce additional public taxes.

Initial facility construction costs of $4 million.
At present, about 80 construction workers are on-site. More than 65% of the construction vendors are from the local area or from the state of Georgia.
