CCA Facilities with Hawaii Inmates
Inmates from Hawaii are housed at two CCA facilities: Red Rock Correctional Center and Saguaro Correctional Center, both located in Eloy, Ariz. These male, medium-security correctional facilities are among CCA’s most modern and innovative projects to date.
They are well-lit and outfitted with the latest in security innovations. They contain living quarters, worship facilities, classrooms, dining halls, medical clinics and recreational areas. In fact, a typical CCA facility is much like a small town when it comes to the services provided and amenities available.
The 1,596-bed Red Rock Correctional Center was constructed in 2006 primarily to accommodate inmates from Hawaii. The 1,896-bed Saguaro Correctional Center, completed in 2007, provided the state with even greater flexibility and space to safely and securely house more inmates from the island. Both facilities have served as needed relief valves for systemic overcrowding in Hawaii’s prisons.
The construction of these modern correctional facilities was based on best practices from CCA’s quarter-century of experience in designing and building prisons, jails and detention facilities. Hawaii inmates are housed in facilities that are among the most up-to-date, innovatively designed and securely outfitted in the nation.
